Lying within St Anne’s Sq The MAC is undoubtedly one of Belfast’s greatest assets! It offers exhibitions, art workshops, performances and more, but did you know they also serve food? From breakfast to pre-show deli boards the MAC Café Bar gives you another option in Belfast’s thriving food scene.
There have recently been some changes to the Café Bar at The MAC, it was once run by the very popular Yellow Door but The MAC have decided to run the café in house, another way to earn some extra income to help subsidise the costs of running The MAC as a whole.
I dined on a Saturday midday, so I got from the Lunch Menu. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the menu. Yes you will find classics such as Soup and Burger but here you will also find dishes including; Bacon and Black Pudding Salad, Goats Cheese and Beetroot Salad and both a Croqué Monsieur and Croqué Mademoiselle, add to that a Chickpea Burger served with Sweet Potato Fries and you really do have a menu that will appeal to most if not all.
When I dined I got the MAC Burger with Sweet Potato Fries and Lauren got the Chicken Goujons and Chips, the food was good, service was quick and price is competitive. I don’t know if this is necessarily somewhere that I would pick to for a meal, but if I was going to The MAC for a show, exhibition or visit then this is a great choice, it would also be a fun alternative first date idea or a perfect business lunch/breakfast.
